In early 2006 KB Home began offering the Estate series in Quarry at Iron Mountain, which represented the semi-custom homes offered in six different floor plans.This neighborhood is located near Hwy 281 and Sonterra behind the new Methodist Hospital, and consisted of 121 home sites.Initial Estate homeowners that bought this series were led to believe by KB Home and their representatives, that this was a unique upscale neighborhood consisting of homes between $350-475k.These homes have never been built anywhere throughout Texas, and would remain unique in that way.Even the design center was not associated or located at the main KB Home design center on Hwy 281.This allowed KB Home to offer options, amenities, and features never before available to the San Antonio market through this builder.Secondly, during the phase one of development, KB Representatives had begun marketing the second phase to have homes in the $500-700k price point, and selling the profitability and instant equity of the KB Home purchase.The primary sales tactic at the time was to promote equity you would acquire by buying a lesser priced home of $350-475k in a neighborhood that was going to introduce more expensive homes in the $500-700k pricepoint.The first two closings were in August 2006, and both were on Barrow Bay.

Estate homes start at 60’ wide, and are 70’ wide with a third car garage.These homeowners were able to build a semi custom home with unique features such as wine cellars, stone fireplaces, double crown molding, arch ways throughout the home, custom cabinetry, including many built-ins.KB built 51 Estate homes before simultaneously discontinuing the Estate and Liberty series on or about February 2, 2008.
